CAC’s Pop-Up Arts Shop

Every month, the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County (CAC) features the artwork of a local craftsman in their Pop Up Arts Show. The CAC strives to connect the Douglasville community to affordable, locally created products, and is proud to welcome Karen Aylwin of Tipsy Lady Jellies as April’s featured artist! Specializing in homemade wine jellies and confections, Karen is a local favorite, loved for her truly one-of-a-kind, delicious creations. Her carefully developed recipes are made with all-natural, vegan ingredients and honor seasonal, locally unique combinations of wines, fruits, and spirits. Unique flavors of jellies will be available for purchase at the CAC from April 6th to 30th.  

Karen began making wine jelly more than forty years ago. A recipe from a “recipe of the month” club introduced her to Merlot jelly. To her surprise, her experimental wine jelly became more than a hit with friends, and they began clamoring for her to make more. They were willing to pay, but as a full-time educator, Karen would have to wait a while before beginning her business. After retirement, it didn’t take long for her to decide to begin selling her much-loved jelly. It was at that point that she became The Tipsy Lady and began producing a wide range of jellies to sell at festivals and fairs, online, and by request. A differentiator of The Tipsy Lady business is that her jellies are all made in small batches, and her recipes are constantly updated to introduce new varieties of wine and spirits, seasonally updated fruit combinations, and the judicious use of novel spices and chilis. 

The Pop Up Arts Shop is the place for amazing one-of-a-kind gifts created by local artists. Each month, the CAC features a different artist who works with varying media. All items are under $75, so be sure to stop by the CAC for some amazing arts and crafts before they’re gone!
