Hydrangea Festival

Held annually on the first weekend in June, the Penny McHenry Hydrangea Festival has helped secure Douglas County’s coveted reputation as “The Hydrangea Capital of the South.” Folks come here from all over the South to enjoy beautiful county-wide display every year!

DC Butterfly Trail

DC Butterfly Trail

Butterfly in the sky? How about hundreds of butterflies all around you?! The Douglas County Butterfly Trail is a self-guided tour of 10 (current) public butterfly gardens. The DC Butterfly Trail is officially recognized and registered with the National Rosalynn Carter Butterfly Trail.  More gardens are added every year!

Clinton Nature Preserve

If you’re into mountain biking, or you’re looking for somewhere to ride your own horses, the Clinton Nature Preserve is the place to go. Over 10 miles of premium Mountain Biking Trails, or walking trails if you prefer. Visit the “Old Carnes House,” or let the kids play on the Junior League ADA accessible playground!

For a unique experience you’d be hard pressed to duplicate anywhere else on the planet, visit Champ’s Clock Shop in Douglas County! Recognized most often for their enormous Clock Showroom, Champ’s Clock Shop houses the world’s Largest Real Cuckoo Clock, and many enormous and vintage Grandfather Clock’s. Come for a visit, or come experience the annual “Chimes of a Thousand Clocks” event.

Boundary Waters Park

Boundary Waters Park is a 500-acre park with plenty of athletic fields, horse trails, hiking trails, swimming pools, indoor pools, heated pools, aquatic center, fitness room, and more! Boundary has River Trails that will eventually connect with the Chattahoochee River, like a water-based version of Georgia’s Silver Comet Trail.

The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County

The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County (CAC) offers high quality cultural events and arts activities in the community. With the mission to nurture, guide and stimulate the enjoyment of and participation in the arts among residents of and visitors to Douglas County, the CAC presents a sophisticated and diverse mix of all kinds of programs – monthly exhibits at the CAC, free outdoor concerts around the county and House concerts at the CAC venue, gallery talks, a new literary festival, book signings and readings, and seasonal beer/wine tasting events.

Not only is the Arbor Place Mall in Douglas County one of our proud Douglas County Film Trail locations, but it remains the only regional mall in Metro Atlanta to directly serve the western suburbs of the ATL. Arbor Place Mall remains a great place to catch up on shopping, watch a movie (in our 3D IMAX Theatre), grab a bite to eat, and more.

The Douglas County Museum

The Douglas County Museum of History and Art is an official destination stop that has been highlighted by the Official Georgia Tourism board, and with good reason! The Museum is actually the former Douglas County Courthouse, and was repurposed in 1998 to include 12 really cool exhibition rooms, a gift shop, and more.
